Let me break it down from both sides: Agency and Local Business Owner

The problem with agency’s is they miss 2 very critical elements when selling to local businesses

They don’t leave ANY room for profit for local businesses and;

They don’t give them a system, just leads

This is the same issue I ran into when I was running my agency.

I’d have sales meeting after sales meeting where I’d do my pitch, reveal my price, and…

It’s too expensive…

And to be completely honest, I was lowballing (charging under $1,000 per month for my services)

After that I went back to the drawing board to do the math and it genuinely didn’t make sense for businesses to pay thousands to an agency AND ad spend (unless you have high ticket services, but even then there’s exceptions)

And on top of that, when I did manage to sign a client, they didn’t want the systems

By systems I mean, automations, booking calendars, call tracking, CRM pipelines, reviews management etc

They assured me “We don’t need the systems, we just need leads” 

So I said “okay, but I hope you have a good system in place because leads are only as good as the follow up system”

And guess what happened…

They closed 1 lead out of 50…

I ended up parting ways because I was obviously going to be the one to blame because “the leads are garbage” and had nothing to do with their lack of follow up…

But the bottomline was that as an agency owner, I couldn’t charge what I wanted to (in good conscience knowing they wouldn’t profit more than $100) AND most business owners don’t have system to genuinely convert more leads into paying customers.

And from the perspective of the local business owners, they’ve been screwed plenty from agencies…

Story after story, business owners tell me how they trusted an agency with their marketing and they didn’t deliver (but they got thousands for it).

I’ve been in the same shoes. 

I hired an agency in the past (most because I didn’t trust my own skills fully and wanted to still produce results for my clients)

Was thrilled that my clients marketing was finally off my shoulders! 

But before I hired them I did try running some ads, it had little results so that’s why I opted in to get a “professional’s” help…

And what did they do…

Did the EXACT same thing I’ve been doing, but told me to spend more money…

I was beyond frustrated. 

Not only was I burning money on them, but I was also letting down my client because I wasn’t getting them results!
